Cape Town

Background

Cape Town is known as the "Mother City" of South Africa, and is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. Cape Town is a beautiful city, scenicly positioned against the slopes of Table Mountain, in the south-western corner of South Africa.

It is a vibrant, lively and friendly city with a rich history and culturally diverse population of over 3 million. The city and surrounding region (known as the Cape Peninsula) has many scenic and cultural attractions to enjoy, as well as fine dining, plenty of live entertainment, and awesome views. When you first arrive, take a drive up Signal Hill to enjoy a drink with panoramic views over the city and harbour.

Highlights

Cape Town has a huge number of tourist attractions and activities to enjoy. Some of the well-known highlights include a visit to Table Mountain (you can get to the top by cable way), a day trip to the scenic Cape Peninsula and Cape Point National Park, a day tour of the Cape Winelands, and a visit to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.

Accommodation

We work with a number of high-quality, carefully selected hotels near the city center and in the Waterfront area. Prices range from about ZAR 300 per person per night up to ZAR 3000 per person per night, depending on the hotel.

Climate and when to go

The weather in Cape Town is mild - no frost or snow, and not too hot in summer. Summer is from October to April and is usually characterised by dry, sunny and sometimes windy weather. Winter months are from May to September and this is also the wet season. It can be rainy, cold and overcast during these months and you should not expect beach weather, although with some luck you may have pleasant and sunny weather - for this reason winter is also known as Cape Town's secret season.

We will be able to put together a customised self-drive or guided itinerary for you which includes Cape Town and any other destinations you wish to visit in South Africa.
