Sabi Sands

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve, part of the world renowned Greater Kruger National Park, is Africa's premier wildlife and safari destination. The Sabi Sand is home to some of the world's top safari lodges, including Londolozi, Sabi Sabi and the luxury Singita Private Game Reserve, voted the world's top hotel by the readers of Travel & Leisure Magazine.

Is the Sabi Sand part of the Kruger National Park? Sabi Sand Game Reserve is a collection of private game reserves that share unfenced borders with each other and with the Kruger National Park. This allows the free movement of wildlife over more than 2 million hectares of pristine bush, and the entire conservation area is known as the greater Kruger National Park.

Each lodge in the Sabi Sands is privately owned and managed, and the typical safari experience here combines the comfort and luxury of 4-star and 5-star hotels with the thrill of open vehicle game drives, guided bush walks and "big five" wildlife sightings. The big five are known to be the 5 most dangerous animals to hunt, i.e. lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Of course, no hunting is permitted in the Sabi Sands. The reserve is dedicated to the conservation of Africa's wildlife and biodiversity, supported by ecotourism.

On this website, you can book your private game lodge safari at any of the lodges in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, at the preferential rates we have negotiated. We add no booking fee, so you pay the same or less than you would if you book directly with the lodge. What's more, we have personally visited most of the lodges in the Sabi Sands and Timbavati Game Reserves, and we can give you an honest review and unbiased advice about which lodge to visit.

Some of the lodges we recommend:

Sabi Sands

The above lodges are only some of the lodges in the Sabi Sand we often use. There is also Nkorho Bush Lodge, Idube, Savanna, Simbambili, Nottens, MalaMala, and various others. Then there is the Timbavati Game Reserve further North, also part of the greater Kruger Park, with superb lodges like Motswari, Gomo Gomo, Umlani, Kambaku, King's Camp, Ngala and various other lodges.

Tariffs: The prices range from about $200 per person per night in low season at the more affordable lodges, to over $1,000 per person per night at some of the top luxury lodges. Normally the rates include all accommodation, 3 superb meals daily, game drives on open safari vehicles, and a daily guided bush walk. In some cases drinks are also included. Transport to the lodge from Johannesburg (by road or by air) is excluded but we can arrange this for you at competitive rates, once again with no booking fee added on.

So how do you know which lodge to visit? How does the Sabi Sand Game Reserve differ from Timbavati? Is the lodge worth the tariffs they charge? Where will I get the best value for my money? How will I know if the guides and the game viewing will be good at a particular lodge? We can answer these questions for you. We would like to help you choose the best possible lodge. Why not send us an email with your requirements and perhaps an idea of your budget? We will offer you expert advice and unbeatable rates for your safari.
