Victoria Falls and Kruger Park

Why not combine the magnificent Victoria Falls with your safari to the Kruger Park?  These spectacular falls on the Zambezi river are deservedly one of Africa's top tourist attractions and well worth a visit. With unforgettable views, exciting day trips and a huge choice of activities, Vic Falls would be one of the most memorable destinations to include on your African safari.

We can put together a complete package for you with flights from Johannesburg included, and a choice of great accommodation options on the Zimbabwean or the Zambian side of the falls. Both sides are safe to visit. Apart from visiting the falls, activities in the region include game viewing by boat, sunset cruises on the Zambezi, regular game drives, elephant back safaris, walking with lions, microlight or helicopter flights over the falls, bungi jumping, abseiling, white water rafting, canoeing, gorge swing, zip line and high wire over the Zambezi gorge, and much more.

There is a wide range of hotels and lodges to choose from, to suit various budgets. Please tell us what your interests and requirements are, and we will put a competitive quote together for you. We recommend spending at least 2 or 3 nights at Victoria Falls to make it worth the cost of flying there. It is a two hour flight from Johannesburg.

Is Victoria Falls safe to visit?

Yes. In our experience, Victoria Falls is as safe as ever. A recent Cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe (early 2009) has not affected Victoria Falls. Cholera, by the way, is easy to prevent and easy to treat, so don't let this or other negative reports about Zimbabwe stop you from visiting this beautiful place.

Various countries have recently lowered or removed their travel advisories for Zimbabwe, due to positive developments in recent months. This is great news for tourism to Zimbabwe, as we have always maintained that Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side is perfectly safe to visit.

Our most recent inspection visit to Victoria Falls was in July 2008, shortly after the controversial run-off election. We continue to get regular updates from our partners in Victoria Falls regarding the current situation. If you book a Victoria Falls package through us, we will give you detailed information about what to expect so you can be well prepared and well informed about your trip to the beautiful Vic Falls.

As we noticed in July, our partners report that Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side is as quiet and peaceful as ever. There are no riots and no security issues, everything is calm and the people are very friendly.

The biggest challenge is the low value of the local currency, which continues to depreciate daily. For this reason, USD is the common currency used in Victoria Falls, and we advise you to have cash and/or traveller's checks with you. The best is to carry USD cash in small denominations (bring plenty $1 bills) because you will not be able to get change in USD.

Food and supplies at hotels and lodges are not a problem, as they are brought across the border from Botswana or Zambia on a daily basis. The same with drinks, including bottled water, which is supplied in most hotel rooms.

All the activities and attractions are fully operational, although less busy than normal. Maintenance and safety checks are still carried out meticulously. The Zambian side has experienced a boom since Zimbabwe's decline, and here you may find some activities to be fully booked if you do not book in advance.

The falls are as spectacular as ever, and the Zimbabwe side is certainly worth the view. During October and November, there is hardly any water on the Zambian side and I would strongly recommend that you visit the Zimbabwe side instead.

The Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls offers great value at the moment, and there is no reason you should not consider visiting this beautiful area. We sincerely hope along with every Zimbabwean that the economic and political situation will improve soon, and that more tourists will come to see the majestic Victoria Falls again.
